Whether you’re looking for a day away to get your students excited about being outdoors or looking for a base for a school residential, outdoor activity centres are ideal destinations. It’s not just about getting your students outside, either. Activity centres promote critical thinking, working as part of a team, and plenty of other skills that will help when you’re back in a classroom setting.
Grafham Water Centre
Based out in Huntingdon, Grafham Water Centre has been bringing learning to life through water sports and activities for over 40 years. From windsurfing and watersports to team building and games, the Water Centre is the perfect place for either and exciting day out or a school residential. High Harthay Outdoor Pursuits
Set in 165 acres of beautiful, Cambridgeshire farmland, High Harthay Outdoor Pursuits is ideal for a day of outdoor pursuits. The family run business offers activities for everyone, from clay pigeon shooting to archery, and is based just outside Huntingdon and St Neots. High Harthay don’t offer overnight stays, but if you’re after a day out for your class, this destination should definitely be on your list.
Nene Outdoors
Part of the Nene Park Trust, Nene Outdoors offers an extensive range of watersports and activities to suit a whole range of abilities and needs (for classes 8 years and up). Located on Gunwade Lake in Ferry Meadows, Nene Outdoors gives your students the opportunity to have a go at sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, raft building and even pedalo football. And while you’re there, be sure to explore the beautiful surrounding park; see if you can spot some of the local wildlife.
